Last offseason, the New York Yankees lost star slugger Juan Soto in free agency after he decided to sign with the New York Mets. Now, the club is at risk of losing another star in free agency, Cody Bellinger.

Bellinger opted out of his current contract with the Bronx Bombers and will test his luck on the open market. He will be one of the biggest names on the free agency list, alongside Kyle Tucker, Kyle Schwarber, and Framber Valdez.

Bellinger is coming off an impressive season with the Yankees, playing in 152 regular-season games, hitting .272/.334/.480 with 29 home runs and 98 runs batted in. There will be plenty of teams looking to add him to their roster, but it might only be feasible for a few.

The Yankees are always considered a team that can meet any player’s contract needs. They have money to spend, and they do not hesitate to provide star players with contracts that other teams simply cannot offer.

With this in mind, they will be in the running to re-sign Cody Bellinger to a new contract. Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller highly suggests they follow through with this in his recent article about impending free agents.

“As things stand, their only outfielders signed for next season are Aaron Judge and Jasson Dominguez. (And, I suppose, technically, Giancarlo Stanton can still play some corner outfield here and there.) So, if they don’t re-sign Bellinger (or Trent Grisham), they better have a nice big offer lined up for Kyle Tucker.”

If they do not plan on re-signing Bellinger, Miller suggests that money should go to Kyle Tucker. However, after already being comfortable in the Bronx, Bellinger should be the team’s focus.
