There is no denying that the New York Yankees had bullpen problems this season. They finished the regular season with a 4.37 team bullpen ERA, which was the eighth-highest across MLB.
This was quite a shock to the front office and fan base, especially after acquiring Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers ahead of the season. However, he did not fare well in the Bronx, appearing in 67 games and compiling a 4.79 ERA, along with a -0.3 WAR.

Now, Williams will become a free agent, and his time with the Yankees is likely up. Williams will look to settle with another team while the Yankees go back to the drawing board and try to figure out which player they need to sign to help shut the door in 2026.

One intriguing reliever who is without a team this winter is Tyler Rogers. Rogers is coming off a great season split with the San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets, and is considered one of the top relief pitcher free agents, according to MLB insider Jim Bowden.
“Rogers is coming off the best year of his career. He posted a 1.80 ERA with the Giants over 53 games before being dealt to the Mets at the trade deadline. He continued his success there, logging a 2.30 ERA over 28 more appearances.”
Like many other relievers on this list, Bowden predicts him to land a one-year deal where he could see $15 million. He also points out that the Yankees are a potential fit here.
The New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, and Detroit Tigers are other potential fits listed by Bowden. All five of these teams will head into the offseason looking to bolster their bullpen, which can make it more difficult for the Bronx Bombers to land their guy.
