Kathy Leanos didn’t know if anyone at her local bar’s Halloween party would even understand her costume.

The 28-year-old from Downey, Calif., decided to go as her favorite country artist, Luke Combs, given that it was a country-themed venue. She tells PEOPLE that she was “determined” to win the costume contest, but was unsure if she could pull off the look.

“I went on Amazon and bought the beard, the Columbia shirt and the microphone. I didn’t even try the costume on until the day of. My sister laminated his Getting Old album for me to carry around in case people weren’t sure who I was,” she tells PEOPLE.

After she got dressed, Leonos made a TikTok video to Combs’ song “1, 2 Many,” showing off her costume — which was complete with a camo hat and fake beard.

The video, which was shared on Sunday, Oct. 12, quickly went viral and has since racked up 1.2 million views.

Viewers couldn’t get enough of the spot-on recreation, which eventually reached Luke Combs’ official TikTok page.

“Kathy you ATE with this 👏🤣 10/10 no notes,” the account commented.

Leanos recalls her sister waking her up to tell her that the video was going viral.

“I didn’t believe her until I saw all the notifications on my phone and was so shocked!” she says. “I honestly cried a little when I saw Luke’s team had commented on my TikTok.”

Leanos says the comment section has been “making me and my whole family laugh,” particularly those jokingly asking her when she’s planning to go on tour.

“Close enough.. can we get some concerts on the west coast?! 😭😂,” one user wrote.

“So when’s the concert??” said another.

This may be Leanos’ first viral costume, but she’s no stranger to dressing up.

“Every Halloween I like to go all out and cosplay,” she says. “I even help my friends and family with special effects makeup or costume ideas. Halloween is one of my top holidays because I get to really use my creative free will.”

As a massive Disney fan, her favorite costume so far has been Minnie Mouse, but her Luke Combs look is a close second.

“I thought the views and likes were going to stop,” she says of the viral moment, “but in under 48 hours I hit 1 million views on two of my videos and I’m still in shock to this day.”
