In Lukas Nelson’s latest social media share, the singer performs a stripped-down, acoustic version of his song “A Certain Someone” from his latest album American Romance, too. In the video, it’s just Nelson, his stunning guitar, and his warm, gritty voice sharing a raw version of the song, which appeared on the expanded version of his June 2025 debut solo album American Romance. Nelson calls American Romance, “a love letter to the country that raised me.”
Nelson’s acoustic performance has fans rushing to the comment section, turning it into a love letter to Nelson’s music, with one fan writing, “Lovely song. Reminiscent of Ray Charles. You are a gifted artist Mr. Nelson.”
“I absolutely love you and your dad,” shared another fan, while another added, “When I hear your music, it makes my heart happy.”
Lukas Nelson and Willie Nelson’s Musical Bond
Despite Grammy nominations in the same category as his famous father, Lukas Nelson has nothing but love for him. In fact, Lukas was just 11 years old when Willie Nelson recorded his son’s first song, “You Were It.”
Since then, Lukas Nelson has carved an award-winning career separate from his dad, including a Grammy Award for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media for his work on the A Star Is Born soundtrack with Shooter Jennings.
Grammy Recognition Across the Nelson Family
His debut solo album American Romance earned a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Country Album, the same category as his father Willie’s album Oh What a Beautiful World. The Nelsons aren’t competitive with one another, and sharing a nomination is seen as a family accomplishment.
Lukas Nelson told Rolling Stone the family has a 40% chance of winning in the Best Traditional Country Album category at the 2026 Grammy Awards, to be held in February, stating the Nelsons’ musical accomplishments are a “team effort.”
Lukas Nelson’s brother Micah Nelson is also nominated for a Grammy Award for producing Willie’s Last Leaf on the Tree album, which is nominated in the Best Americana Album category.
