Why Prince George Still Struggles With This Part of Royal Life

Despite the fact that the British royals are the most closely watched family in the world, Prince George still hasn’t quite adjusted to life in the spotlight. On the contrary, and according to royal insiders, it turns out the young royal is a tad camera shy, especially when asked to do royal engagements.

“He has done some already, he’s been at the rugby a few times,” royal editor Roya Nikkhah said on a recent episode of her podcast, The Royals with Roya and Kate. “I’ve been at the rugby with him and he’s still not totally comfortable in front of the cameras and in front of the media. I don’t blame him. He’s got a lifetime of it ahead of him.”

Prince George is, of course, the eldest son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, meaning that once William inherits the throne, George will be heir apparent. Still, he’s spent most of his childhood in relative privacy, and will possibly be the first future monarch to buck tradition by not attending boarding school.

“Kate’s preference is for George to be at a co-education school, so he can be with his siblings, which is what Kate experienced at Marlborough with her sister, Pippa, and brother, James,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told The Mirror. “It was a very happy school life for her, but William has very fond memories of Eton, which has a long history with aristocrats and members of the royal family.”

The recent back-and-forth over Prince George’s future has tipped the shy royal back into the spotlight. William, meanwhile, has become the “rival” of his father, King Charles, who is apparently refusing to offer any advice to the future English monarchs.

“The king is not about to be giving Kate advice about being a future queen,” royal author Christopher Anderson told Fox News. “That would simply give oxygen to the notion that he might not be around much longer, and Charles III intends to stay put on the throne for years to come.”
