Awards season is great for a myriad of reasons—one of which is the Hollywood X Royals crossover that takes place during the EE BAFTA Film Awards, thanks to William’s position as president. Sadly this year, however, we won’t be getting a joint red carpet slay from Kate Middleton and Prince William during Sunday’s BAFTA Film Awards in London.

Kensington Palace confirmed to People that the couple will not be not be at the 2025 BAFTA Film Awards, which will take place this Sunday, February 16. Since 2010, Will and Kate have been red carpet regulars because of the prince’s involvement in the organization. In place of their attendance this year, however, the Palace revealed that William will appear in a video package and the couple will make a trip to the London Screen Academy on Wednesday. The news of their decision comes after reports that the two could be making an appearance at the prestigious ceremony.

The couple most recently attended together in 2023, and although, Middleton missed last year’s event because of her cancer treatment, William still attended alone. After the ceremony, William was seen joking around with last year’s nominees of the EE Rising Stars Award, Phoebe Dynevor, Ayo Edebiri, Sophie Wilde, and Mia McKenna Bruce, in a now-viral photo.

In 2023, the Prince and Princess of Wales attended together in striking coordinating couple looks. Middleton wore a white, one-shoulder chiffon Alexander McQueen gown with a dramatic bow and flowing scarf detail that trailed down to her leg. She styled the Grecian-inspired belted dress with black velvet opera gloves, a matching clutch, and sculptural rose gold leaf earrings. Her blown-out hair was worn down and tucked behind her ears, and her glam featured a smoky eye, rosy blush, and a subtle mauve lip. For his part, William matched his wife in a black velvet, double-breasted tuxedo jacket layered over a white button-down and styled with a matching bowtie and tailored trousers.

In 2020, the couple attended in more black-and-white looks that included a gold-and-white gown for Middleton and a black tux for William.
