It’s no crime to have the munchies.
A chicken-loving 5-year-old Florida boy had such a craving for Chick-fil-A that he snuck out of his Florida home and walked into the popular eatery by himself — then worried he was in serious trouble.
“Are you going to get me to jail?” the daring boy, identified only as William, asked when the cops showed up, according to a release Monday from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
“No,” one officer answered, a video of the incident shows. “I’m not going to put you in jail.”
William, wearing an oversized red sweater, was already chomping away on a Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwich with a restaurant manager when the sheriff’s office showed up at the San Jose Boulevard eatery “earlier this summer,” the department said.
Police said William managed to leave his house while his parents slept, squeezed through the fence around the house and walked down the street for breakfast all by himself.
Cops loaded the mischievous boy into a patrol car and drove around the neighborhood until the youngster recognized his home — and had to climb the fence to break the news to the clueless parents.
“It’s kind of scary, actually, because we didn’t realize what was going on until after,” his mom, Victoria, said during a reunion with staff and cops at the restaurant.

“I know he knows how to get to Chick-fil-A because we walk there,” she said. “I would’ve never expected him to come down here on his own in the morning before anybody else in the house was up.”
The youngster showed his gratitude for the cops — identified only as officers Kelly and Perri — during the reunion, and gave his two heroes plates of cookies for not locking him up during the scary stunt.
William’s dad, identified only as Phil, called the whole thing “an adventure” for his young son.
“I was worried about him, because, was he scared, was he crying was he upset? He was quiet, which was unusual for him,” the embarrassed father said. “I think it did shake him up some, so I don’t really think we needed to impress too much that she shouldn’t do it again, thinks like that.
“I think he understood that it was serious, but we did talk about it.”
