Ty Law drops a bombshell: he wants the Patriots to trade for an All-Pro star who could instantly change everything in New England.mh

“If you can get A.J. Brown and pair him with Stefon Diggs, bring him.”

The Patriots secured their best win of the post-Brady era on Sunday after defeating the Bills in Buffalo during a primetime matchup.

Drake Maye’s continued development and the strong play as of late from Stefon Diggs has offered hope that a once-stagnant New England offense unit can regularly land some punches against opposing defenses this fall.

But if the Patriots want to really capitalize in what is looking like a wide-open AFC field this season, the case can be made that New England needs to add some reinforcements before the Nov. 4 trade deadline.

One intriguing target could be Eagles star wideout A.J. Brown, who has been disgruntled with his role in Philadelphia’s offense so far this season.

Despite his established track record as one of the most productive receivers in recent memory, Brown’s involvement in Philly’s offense has waned as of late as the Eagles have shifted to more of a ground-and-pound game behind Saquon Barkley and a mobile QB in Jalen Hurts.

Brown, who has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in five of his six full seasons in the NFL, has only reeled in 19 catches for 194 yards and one touchdown so far this year.

Brown has been candid about his dissatisfaction this season, with rumors about his viability as a top trade chip continuing to swirl. Philadelphia did stress earlier this week that they have no plans to deal away the 28-year-old receiver, although a lot can change if Brown’s targets don’t rise.

And if the Eagles change their tune or Brown himself asks for a trade, former Patriots cornerback and Pro Football Hall of Famer Ty Law believes that the Patriots should be the team to come calling.

“Absolutely bring him,” Law said during his latest appearance on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show” earlier this week. “If you can get A.J. Brown and pair him with Stefon Diggs, bring him. A.J. Brown knows what he’s doing. He knows he just got that new contract guaranteed, a lot of money. And if you look at, it’s like, ‘Hey, every receiver wants the ball.’ So he’s not doing anything that no other receiver would do in the same position, you know?

“I mean, Keyshawn [Johnson] wrote a damn book about it. Come on, Just Give Me the Damn Ball. Now that’s going public. You know, he trying to write a best seller about it. But that’s just the receiver position, and he wants to feel a part of the game. So if he’s not, he’s going to say something about it. Like I said — he got enough guaranteed contract that he can say what he wanna say, and they just had to deal with it.”

Joining a team like the Patriots would be presumably allow Brown to secure a hefty new contract in due time — be it with New England or in a few seasons on the open market after he pumps up his stats as Maye’s top target.

Brown does have several ties to the Patriots, beyond the fact that he grew up a Patriots fan and “cried his eyes out” when Bill Belichick and his staff took wideout N’Keal Harry over him with the 32nd pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Ty Law wants Patriots to trade for this All-Pro talent

Brown also started his career playing for Vrabel with the Titans in 2019 before his desire for a new contract prompted Tennessee to trade him to the Eagles in April 2022.

“Nobody wanted to have [Brown] walk out of [Tennessee],” Vrabel said in August 2025 on “Bussin’ With the Boys” about losing Brown. “It didn’t work out. It’s disappointing. The thing that I am most proud of is the relationship with him and the players that I’ve coached.”
