THE PACIFIC (AFP): Six more people have been killed in strikes on what the US military claims were drug-running boats, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Monday.

The latest hit sees the death toll rise from the controversial anti-narcotics campaign to 76.
Hegseth, in a post on X, said two strikes had occurred Sunday in international waters in the eastern Pacific, targeting two boats “carrying narcotics” with three people on board each.
“All 6 were killed. No US forces were harmed,” he said.

“These vessels were known by our intelligence to be associated with illicit narcotics smuggling, were carrying narcotics, and were transiting along a known narco-trafficking transit route,” Hegseth said in a post on X accompanied by video. – AFP
