  • A member of the Trump administration said ICE agents will be present at the Super Bowl and Bad Bunny’s halftime show
  • “There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally,” said Trump adviser Corey Lewandowski, who called it “shameful” that the Puerto Rican rapper was chosen to give the Super Bowl LX halftime performance
  • Bad Bunny previously opted to skip touring in the U.S. out of fear that ICE would target his concerts

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents will be present at the 2026 Super Bowl and its halftime show, according to a member of President Donald Trump’s administration.

Corey Lewandowski — a top adviser on Donald Trump’s 2016 and 2024 campaigns, who now supports the Department of Homeland Security — confirmed the news just days after rapper Bad Bunny was announced as the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show performer.

During an appearance on the Oct. 1 episode of The Benny Show podcast, Lewandowski was asked by host Benny Johnson if “ICE will have enforcement at the Super Bowl for the Bad Bunny halftime show.”

“There is nowhere you can provide safe haven to people who are in this country illegally,” Lewandowski responded. “Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else. We will find you and apprehend you and put you in a detention facility and deport you.”

“So know that is a very real situation under this administration, which is contrary to how it used to be,” he added.

Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, was confirmed as next year’s headliner on Sunday, Sept. 28. The 31-year-old will take to the stage during the game at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Feb. 8, 2026.

On Monday, Sept. 29, Bad Bunny told Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden, “I’m really excited for my friends, my family. Puerto Rico, all the Latino people around the world. I’m excited about my culture. I’m excited about everything, not just for me. It feels really good. The beach where we record[ed the announcement] is my hometown beach. So it’s a very special thing for us.”

In a statement following the announcement, Bad Bunny also said the performance is “for my people, my culture, and our history.”

The musician also spoke about the career moment in an X post, writing, “I’ve been thinking about it these days, and after discussing it with my team, I think I’ll do just one date in the United States,” referencing his decision to skip touring the U.S. or his Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour due to Trump’s use of ICE for immigration crackdown.

Last month, Bad Bunny opened up about the decision in an i-D cover story.

“There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the U.S., and none of them were out of hate — I’ve performed there many times,” Bad Bunny said. “All of [the shows] have been successful. All of them have been magnificent.”

“I’ve enjoyed connecting with Latinos who have been living in the U.S., but specifically, for a residency here in Puerto Rico, when we are an unincorporated territory of the U.S. … People from the U.S. could come here to see the show,” he continued, adding that “Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world.”

“But there was the issue of — like, f—ing ICE could be outside [my concert],” told the publication. “And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”

During his appearance on The Benny Show, Lewandowski called Bad Bunny’s selection as the halftime performer “shameful.”

“It’s so shameful they’ve decided to pick somebody who just seems to hate America so much to represent them at the halftime game,” he said.

“We should be trying to be inclusive, not exclusive,” Lewandowski added. “There are plenty of great bands and entertainment people who could be playing at that show that would be bringing people together and not separating them.”

Johnson then told Lewandowski, “I think you’re going to make a little news here Corey saying that there’s going to be ICE enforcement at the Bad Bunny concert at the Super Bowl.”

“It will be everywhere. Bad Bunny plays … Look if there are illegal aliens, I don’t care if it’s a concert for Johnny Smith or Bad Bunny or anybody else, we’re going to do enforcement everywhere because we’re going to make Americans safe,” Lewandowski said in response.

“That is a directive from the president, and if you’re in this country illegally do yourself a favor, go home, we’ll buy you the plane ticket. Get out of the country and you’ll have a chance to come back legally.”
