The Toronto Blue Jays are nearly there.

After a season of ups and downs, of comebacks and injuries, of battles against doubting narratives and talented opponents, it all comes down to this.

The Blue Jays will fly back to Toronto with a 3-2 lead in the World Series. Game 6, and if necessary Game 7, will be playing back in Canada against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

And there’s only one thing left for the Blue Jays to do: Finish the job.

What’s next for the Blue Jays?

The Blue Jays are looking at Game 6 on Friday, and potentially Game 7 on Saturday.

At this point, there are no style points. There’s only outcomes.

And if the Blue Jays win one of those two games, they will be World Series champions for the first time since 1993.

Game 6 will be a tough task, going up against Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who threw a complete game in a Game 2 Dodgers win.

But think about it this way: If you had before the season offered the Blue Jays a 3-2 World Series lead heading back home, they’d have taken it in a heartbeat.

This is what athletes dream of. They have a chance to win a championship.

The guys on the mound matter, of course. So does health, like that of Blue Jays superstar George Springer.

But all of that matters less than what happens on the single day that could determine the fate of this entire ballclub.

Do the Blue Jays focus correctly? Do they handle their nerves? Do they make the plays when the moment calls for them?

If they do, they can have a parade in downtown Toronto.

If the Blue Jays can finish the job, this team will be remembered forever. They won’t just go down in Toronto history, but in Canadian history.

So at this point, nothing else matters. The final scoreboard in Game 6 (and Game 7 if needed) will tell the whole story.

It’s up to the Blue Jays to get across the finish line.
