“They Know What Happened”: Mookie Betts Has Strong Words for Brewers After NLCS. lt

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts had some words for his NLCS rivals, the Milwaukee Brewers, following the end of the series in a 4-0 sweep.

The Dodgers’ starting pitching dominated the Brewers’ hitters all series long, stopping them from scoring runs, while Los Angeles’ offense was able to create just enough offense to get the four wins.

The Brewers were not severely matched on paper, especially considering how poor the Dodgers bullpen has been and their style of play being ideally suited for the postseason.

Milwaukee finished with the best record in the National League through the use of aggressive, smart baserunning and an on-base-heavy approach that caused opposing teams fits.

Throughout the NLCS, the Brewers failed to implement their game and instead ended up chasing pitches and failing to work counts against Los Angeles’ starters.

While they fell short, Betts commended the team for fighting hard throughout the series and attributed their series loss more to what the Dodgers did right rather than a failure on the Brewers’ end.

“Those boys, they fought, they fought hard. We’re playing well and guys pitch well,” Betts said after the game while celebrating.

“There’s just really not a whole lot you can do when guys are going seven, eight innings every game. I mean, you know, they were banged up too. They had a couple injuries, especially to their starters and whatnot, so shoutout to them for playing 162 [games] and having the best record because that is hard to do.”

The Brewers took 119 at-bats during the NLCS, getting only 14 hits and working just 11 walks, while they struck out 41 times and only stole four bases.

According to ESPN stats, the Brewers roster only created 2.5 runs, highlighting how hard it was for the hitters to create offense.

While there likely are some adjustments that Milwaukee could have made, the Dodgers proved to be the better team in every facet of the game, even areas where the Brewers were supposed to dominate.
