Still looking for a Halloween costume? There’s a goldmine of costume inspiration to mine from the country music world. The hairstyles alone, from Dolly Parton to Ella Langley, could be the starting point to many a good costume.
Given that 2025 has turned out to be a year of nostalgia for everything ’90s, you could recreate an iconic country music star look from that decade. Another route: Dress up like a country song. “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” was meant to be a Halloween costume, we’d say.
You can also look to what country music stars themselves have dressed up as for Halloween in the past. Many of them go all out year after year. From adorable family and couples costumes (Luke Bryan and his wife Caroline as cheese and a mouse are so sweet!) to movie character perfection (Kelsea Ballerini is Sandy from Grease *and* Barbie, as far as we’re concerned), these costumes set the bar pretty high. And that’s saying a lot because Nashville has quite the bar scene.
Reba McEntire as Delia Deetz (with Kelly Clarkson as Beetlejuice!)
Proof that Reba does go all-out for Halloween! She appeared on The Kelly Clarkson show last year, and, along with fiancé Rex Linn and Kelly, dressed up in full Beetlejuice regalia. Reba portrayed Catherine O’Hara’s character Delia Deetz, while Rex paid homage to Danny DeVito’s afterlife janitor. Kelly, of course, was the titular character made famous by Michael Keaton.
Kelsea Ballerini as Barbie
Kelsea Ballerini took a pretty-in-pink cue from Margot Robbie’s Barbie cowgirl outfit when she hosted The Original Donut Shop’s Halloween Party in 2023. It wasn’t the first time Kelsea tipped her hat to pop culture for Halloween—she famously dressed up as Legally Blonde‘s Elle Woods in 2020.
Kelsea Ballerini as Sandy from “Grease”
If Taylor ever wants to give up her queen of Halloween crown, Kelsea probably wouldn’t mind placing it atop her own noggin! In addition to her legendary Barbie and Elle Woods outfits, last year Kelsea emulated Grease‘s Sandy to former beau Chase Stokes’ Danny. (Yep, if you haven’t heard, the pair just split.) The event was Heidi Klum’s 23rd Annual Halloween Party at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York City, another bash we’d just about kill to attend.
Luke Bryan as Cheese
In 2020, Luke Bryan and his wife, Caroline, pretty much won Halloween with their coordinating cheese and mouse costumes. Adorbs!
Carrie Underwood as Cheer Bear (and Friends)
Of course, country music royalty doesn’t always need to get a group costume going for October 31st. Carrie Underwood and fam posed for this seasonally appropriate pic in Detroit during a stop on her 2019 Cry Pretty Tour 360. She’s a Cheer Bear, hubby Mike Fisher is SNL character Buck Daniels, while sons Isiah and Jacob make like the Grinch and his dog, Max. Awwww….
Shania Twain as a Leopard
Shania Twain has called leopard print her “neutral” so it just makes sense she’d rev up her signature style for her Halloween guest appearance on The Today Show in 2017. And you aren’t seeing double…that’s actually Megyn Kelly dressed as a “Man! I Feel Like a Woman”- era Shania!
Miranda Lambert as Morticia Addams
Miranda Lambert and her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, were altogether ooky in 2022 when they dressed as Morticia and Gomez from the Addams Family for their spooky season shindig. Now that’s a party we wish we’d been invited to!
Jason Aldean as Han Solo
Jason Aldean, his son Memphis, and wife, Brittany, kept it all in the family for Halloween 2018, with a Star Wars-themed look. That may just be the cutest Yoda we’ve ever seen (and Jason, as Han Solo, ain’t too bad himself).
Naomi Cooke in Day of the Dead Makeup
Along with Taylor, other country artists have also taken their Halloween spirit onstage, like the band Runaway Jane. For their October 31, 2019, tour stop, Hannah Mulholland dressed up as a witch, with Jennifer Wayne wearing a cute hippie costume. But we really loved Naomi Cooke’s subtle, pretty Day of the Dead makeup and clothes. And it wouldn’t be too hard to replicate for your party this year!
Jon Pardi as Elvis
Back in 2021, Jon Pardi and his wife, Summer, rocked matching Halloween attire inspired by the King. Jon even nailed the celebrated Presley sneer!
Trisha Yearwood as Garth Brooks
Speaking of country music artists dressing up as each other, it’s safe to say no one has done it quite as memorably (or hilariously) as Trisha Yearwood. She channeled her nearest and dearest, hubby Garth Brooks, for the Halloween episode of her Food Channel show, Trisha’s Southern Kitchen, in 2017.
Chris Young as Superman
Of course, it’s hard to go wrong on Halloween when you’ve got some serious superhero getups, like Chris Young and a buddy proved as the Caped Crusader and The Man of Steel in 2022.
