The country music world is praying for Dolly Parton this week as she continues to struggle with her health.
Fans already knew that Parton, who recently postponed a slate of shows in Las Vegas due to her health, was struggling, but a social media post from her sister, Freida Parton, on Tuesday amplified the situation.
“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” she wrote on Facebook. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me. She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”
Fans were quick to respond with prayers and well-wishes.
“I love Dolly so much!” Miranda Stump responded. “She’s in my prayers. She’s a wonderful woman, with such a beautiful soul. Lourd please watch over her.”
“Praying for sweet Dolly!!!” Crysta Maddox wrote.
“A precious precious woman you tell her we love her and are praying for her!!!” Jessica Ingram Brigham replied.
And there were plenty more comments like that to Freida’s post which is linked above.
While Parton has not specifically said what her health issues where, she addressed fans about what was going on when she announced on social media in late September that she was postponing the Las Vegas shows.
“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” Parton wrote in a statement shared to her X page. “As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon! In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you. While I’ll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show read, as they say.
“And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” she added. “But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding.”
She also shared that the dates for later this year are currently planned to be moved to September of 2026.
Parton, 79, recently cancelled an appearance at Dollywood. In a video that she shared explaining why she wasn’t able to make it, she said, “I had a little problem. I had a kidney stone, which caused me a lot of problems.”
“Turns out there was an infection,” she added. “And the doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be traveling around this minute, so you need a few days to get better.’ So he suggested I not go to Dollywood today.”
