Smith is one of the best catchers in baseball, and having his bat in the lineup adds to an already great offense. He was named an All-Star for the third consecutive season this year. He hit .296 with a .901 OPS.
While he may be available, there is no telling how his hand injury will impact him when he returns. He has not played since Sept. 9 after suffering a hairline fracture in his right hand. Not even a full month since the injury, he is trying to play and give his team everything he has for a chance to win another World Series.
The Dodgers’ lineup will be one to watch before the teams face off on Saturday. If Smith is healthy and able to start, it could make things difficult for the Phillies.
