While the Dodgers patiently waited to see who they would play in the Fall Classic, they had a workout at Dodger Stadium in which reliever Tanner Scott, who has yet to make a postseason appearance, spoke to the media. He wasn’t used during either of the Wild Card games for LA, and as he revealed, started to feel the effects of a lower-body abscess that would require a procedure. He was eventually replaced by Justin Wrobleski on the NLDS roster before Game 4.
“It popped up probably, Game 1 [of the NLDS], I started feeling something,” Scott said. “And then the off-day [between Games 2 and 3 of that series], I noticed something was really off. By the time we got back from Philly, it was just like, ‘Hey, we need to get this taken care of.’”
Scott also opened up on where he is currently at in his recovery process and if he will be able to work in the World Series, if need be.
“[The abscess was] bad timing, but healthy now, so just keep going. That’s about it,” Scott said. “I feel a lot better now, I’m throwing, threw a couple bullpens, see where it takes me.”
Scott joined the Dodgers this offseason on a four-year, $72 million deal and was coming off a 2024 campaign that featured a 1.75 ERA across his time with the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres. His production thus far has been far from what was expected of him, posting a 4.74 ERA across 61 outings.
He led the league in blown saves this season with 10.

In the month of September alone, the southpaw tossed a 6.48 ERA and a pair of blown saves. Even if Scott is healthy, he hasn’t quite shown that he can be trusted in high leverage situations, especially with a championship on the line.
