Stephen Curry is one of the greatest basketball players of all time, and the consensus pick for best shooter ever. The Akron, Ohio native revolutionized the NBA with his three-point shooting ability, and has been the face of the Golden State Warriorsdynasty.

Curry has a resume very few players compare to. In fact, the 10 Best Point Guards in NBA History [Ranked] that has reached a similar level of success is the immortal Magic Johnson.

It’s been a long and winding road for Steph to get to where he is today. Curry was a three-star recruit out of high school and played college basketball at Davidson, a small liberal arts school in North Carolina.

Even after he showed a ton of potential with the Wildcats, there were a lot of doubts about whether the young point guard would be able to handle the physicality of the NBA.

And it was a struggle for Curry the first few years to stay healthy, as he dealt with multiple ankle injuries. But the greatest Golden State Warrior of all time eventually adjusted and became the icon he is today.

In a recent interview, Steph revealed what’s been the secret to all of his success.

Giving viewers a sense of the themes he is trying to convey in the text, Curry explained what he believes is the main reason he has had such a decorated career.

“I also had plenty of criticism and a lack of opportunity in terms of playing that really just drove me to stick to the grind. My work ethic became a superpower in a sense because it was the one thing I could rely on. I was the last kid on my nine and 10-year-old team and I was the smallest kid on pretty much every team I played on until I got to college…For me, the process is the most fun. The results, the wins and losses and all that type of stuff, keep you going, but the process and what you dive into on a daily basis and the nuances of mastering what you’re doing, there’s definitely points of feedback that make you smile: ‘I’ll be better at this than I was a week ago,'”

Stephen Curry is a real life example of the phrase “pressure makes diamonds”

Steph’s early basketball adversity is exactly what drove him to his legendary career. Because of his diminutive size, the two-time MVP could never take anything for granted, and he had to elevate his skill level significantly just to stay on the court growing up.

This urgency, along with his upbringing under 16-year NBA vet Dell Curry, are why Steph has constantly been renowned for his work ethic, even at the age of 37.

Last season, the Warriors hit a new gear after trading for Jimmy Butler III, going 23-7 with their new forward. Golden State subsequently beat the second-seeded Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs.

Unfortunately, during Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals, Steph injured his hamstring, which kept him out the rest of the 4-1 series loss.

But the Warriors will once again enter this season expecting to be a contender in their loaded conference. And that is precisely because of their point guard, whose presence on the floor constantly uplifts everyone else.

Even at his older age, Curry’s willingness to move on-ball is a trait we rarely see from any star player of his caliber. This endurance creates so many open shots for his teammates, which is why players usually find new life in their careers when they join the Warriors.
