Week 4 was a wild one in the NFL. Among many different storylines, the Kansas City Chiefs dominated the Baltimore Ravens and climbed back to .500 after an 0-2 start. But on Monday night, the week ended on a sour note due to a devastating knee injury suffered by Tyreek Hill.
The Miami Dolphins star got rolled up on and dislocated his kneecap, which came with multiple torn ligaments. It was a gruesome injury that puts his football future in jeopardy. Prayers poured in from several players, but it particularly hit hard for Hill’s teammates and former teammates. One of those was Patrick Mahomes, who revealed something about Hill this week.
Patrick Mahomes feels for his former Chiefs teammate Tyreek Hill and has spoken to him
Mahomes had initially posted on X about the injury, saying “Prayers up man…..” with two praying hands emojis. But on Thursday, he spoke to the media in more detail about the injury and his relationship with Hill. Mahomes mentioned that he reached out to speak to Hill since the injury.
The QB then delved a little bit into why he thinks the wide receiver will back in the NFL before long, hearkening back to their time together in Kansas City.
Yeah, I mean, I talked to him a little bit, but more than anything, just sending prayers his way because you never want to see that happen in football. And it’s part of the game, but it’s a terrible part of the game. And I know how he works, so I’m excited to watch his comeback now. He’ll get to work and be back at it, but obviously praying for him and his family because you never want to see that on the football field.
Hill was with the Chiefs for Mahomes’ first five seasons in the league. Together, they dominated the air. They both made the Pro Bowl in all four seasons in which Mahomes was the team’s starting quarterback.
Their past success has led many to wonder if Hill could end up back in Kansas City at some point before the end of his career. That idea has been thrown around for the past couple of offseasons. With his Dolphins future up in the air and Mahomes supporting him through this injury, perhaps Hill could be in a Chiefs uniform in 2026 or 2027.
