The Seattle Seahawks were able to continue their winning ways in Week 4. After dropping their season opener, they have won their past three games to move into a three-way tie atop the NFC West.

They have shown the potential to be a legitimate contender in the early stages of the season. Seattle is averaging 27.8 points per game while allowing just 16.8, ranking sixth and second in the entire NFL, respectively. The decision to move on from Geno Smith and replace him with Sam Darnold was slammed by several pundits in the offseason, however, it has paid off for the Seahawks in a major way.

While Smith has thrown for 948 yards and six touchdowns, he leads the league with seven interceptions and has completed 63.8% of his passes. He had another awful performance in Week 4 as he had his second three-interception game already this season, playing a major role in yet another Las Vegas Raiders loss.

Seahawks’ Sam Darnold receives well deserved praise following Week 4 performance

Meanwhile, Darnold has done a great job of taking care of the football. He has thrown for 905 yards, five touchdowns and just two interceptions while completing 70.0% of his passes. The eighth-year veteran, who has posted a league-leading 91.1 Pro Football Focus (subscription required) grade, received praise following yet another mistake free performance in a victory.

Darnold has been great for the Seahawks through four games. He had another strong performance in Seattle’s Thursday Night Football 23-20 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4, throwing for 242 yards, one touchdown, no interceptions and a 69.2% completion percentage.

Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski gave Darnold an A for his performance:

“Now four games into the 2025 campaign, an argument can be made that last season’s standout performance wasn’t an aberration for Sam Darnold…Darnold delivered when Arizona came roaring back in the fourth quarter. With 28 seconds left to play, the Seahawks quarterback connected with wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba for 22 yards on a beautiful route and pass, where Darnold dropped the ball into the bucket and placed Seattle in field-goal position.”

While many questioned if his performance in 2024 was due to the offensive talent around him on the Minnesota Vikings, Darnold has played at an elite level to begin the 2025 season. If the quarterback is able to maintain this level of play, the Seahawks — who have fielded an elite defense — appear poised to make their first postseason appearance since 2022.
