Royal family
Here’s what royal sources are saying now about reports of a rift between the monarch and the Prince of Wales.
Following Prince Harry‘s visit with King Charles a few weeks back, there were questions about whether Prince William was consulted at all before his father agreed to meet with the Duke of Sussex. Then there were rumblings that the Prince of Wales wasn’t on board with Harry’s visit, and that had caused tension between the current king and the future king.
As reports continued to swirl that William wasn’t happy that his father welcomed Harry to Clarence House, royal biographer Tina Brown said that Charles is “less irritated” by Harry than William these days.
However, royal sources are now pushing back on those claims.
A palace source told the Daily Mail: “It’s evident there’s an attempt to manufacture division between them [the king and William], when in reality, no such rift exists. In truth, their relationship is as strong as ever. They are aligned in their work, with many areas of shared interest, and united in their vision for the role of the royal family.
“Do they [the king and William] sit down for dinner every night, or even see each other every week? No. But they never have. However, they do speak regularly and they are in absolute lockstep about the future of the monarchy and the good it can do this country.”
