Even though Halloween hasn’t even happened, everywhere seems to already getting into the Christmas spirit and Buckingham Palace is no different.

This festive season, Buckingham Palace is opening a Christmas shop for the first time ever.

The Royal Mews will be hosting a pop-up store dedicated to Christmas. The shop will have items like tree decorations, gifts and even some delicious foods.

But over the past week, reports have suggested a fully-fledged Christmas market will be taking place. And this just isn’t the case – which Buckingham Palace was forced to clarify.

The Royal Collection Trust has advertised the news on their website, making it clear what everyone can expect.

The statement read: “From November 14 to January 5, our reimagined Royal Mews shop will be reopened, serving as a premier destination for all your Christmas gifts, tree decorations and festive food.

“As well as offering our bestselling gift ideas, The Royal Mews store will feature a full-size advent calendar, with daily reveals of new products, limited editions, exclusive treats and special collector’s items. Check back later for updates on what Royal Mews Christmas Pop Up has in store for you.”

However, at the end of the statement, they added a bold section, clarifying exactly what will not be happening.

It read: “Please note that the Royal Mews Christmas Shop is a pop-up shop selling Royal Collection Trust festive products within the existing Royal Mews shop space. This is not a Christmas market. There will not be a Christmas Market at Buckingham Palace.”

How do the royals spend Christmas?

Traditionally, each year the royals would spend Christmas at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. This began with Queen Elizabeth II and has continued since Charles became king.

The family would usually exchange gifts on Christmas Eve, and on Christmas morning they would head to St Mary Magdalene Church for the formal morning service.

While at the service, they would typically enjoy a Christmas traditional meal. After the church service, they would often walk through the village, greeting fans gathered.

There is usually a pre-Christmas lunch held in Buckingham Palace. But last year, Kate Middleton and Prince William missed this as they were already at the Sandringham estate with their children.

Each year since 2021, Kate Middleton hosts a Together at Christmas concert. It has already been confirmed that it will once again take place this year.
