When the Boston Red Sox’ season ended with a frustrating loss to the New York Yankees, their objective was clear: build a championship team. And now, it finally seems like they are committed to doing so.

According to the Sox’ Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow, Boston isn’t where they want to be yet, and is still committed to making that championship roster.

“We’re definitely closer (to our goal) when you think about the season we just had… But we’re also not where we want to go yet and adding the wins that take you from 89 to 90 to 91 to 92 are really hard… All that said, this isn’t the time to pat ourselves on the back. We have work to do… I’m obviously not going to get into specifics about budgets, but this ownership group has consistently provided the resources to invest in a winning team,” Breslow said (via Sean McAdam).

This past season, the Sox managed to go 89-73, came in third place in the AL East, and got the second Wild Card slot, where they lost to the Yankees 2-1. This is a significant improvement from years past, as the Sox were 81-81 in the 2024 season and missed the playoffs.

Now, with this in mind, the Sox really only have one choice: to make their team championship-caliber. And after this season, it won’t be that hard to do.

Hopefully, Breslow and Co. stay true to their word and make sure the Red Sox are the dominant team of the American League once again next season.
