Prince Harry and Meghan recall moment with Dame Jane Goodall and Archie

Duke and Duchess of Sussex recalled a special moment with their son Archie in a tribute to Dame Jane Goodall:

“Dr. Jane Goodall DBE was a visionary humanitarian, scientist, friend to the planet, and friend to us. Her commitment to changing lives extends beyond what the world saw, and also to what we personally felt. She held our son, Archie, when he was first born, and showered love and care to those who were privileged to know her. She will be deeply missed.”

Prince William insight

Hello HELLO! fans! It’s me, Rebecca, coming to you live from Los Angeles.

It’s been a busy day for the royals across the globe, but I’m intrigued by this small insight into Prince William’s mindset that has come from the first global memorial for humanitarian workers, held at Gunnersbury Park in west London, and attended by the Prince of Wales.

Sir John Holmes, Chair of the Humanitarian Memorial Committee, who introduced the Prince on the stage at Gunnersbury Park, said afterwards: “I think he’d like to be more engaged in these issues, but of course it’s very difficult for him because of his position.”

In recent centuries, the royals have remained out of political issues in order to ensure the stability and democratic function of the government, and as a reminder that the King or Queen is a symbolic, unifying role for the country, away from the partisan noise in government.

During the engagement, William expressed concern for those working in war zones, and told Lyse Doucet, the BBC’s chief international correspondent, and Jeremy Bowen, the corporation’s International Editor: “You’ve seen it way more than most. You’re human at the end of the day, and you see that going on, and it’s very difficult not to be involved in the horrors of what’s going on.”

He added: “When you’re on the ground, you see the whole picture, which is really important. That’s the downside of social media because you two spend your entire life trying to work out if that’s true or not.”

That’s all from me!

That’s all from me here in London!

I’m now passing you over to Rebecca Lewis in the US for an evening of royal news.

Harry and Meghan’s neighbourhood feature saved by residents

An update from across the pond…

Montecito is home to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, where they count A-listers like Oprah Winfrey among their neighbours. The area draws visitors not only for its celebrity residences but also as a hiking hotspot. Now, Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk news outlet has reported that a local trail, closed after a storm over a year ago, has now been repaired and reopened.

The Montecito Trails Foundation has been behind the project. They explained: “Restoring trails is hard work and requires careful planning, and we are up for the task because of the amazing community partners that we have, and the hard work and volunteer hours of people like you.”

Today, his Instagram account released a video showing the pre-shoot staging of a beautiful country home, featuring everything from large entrance gates swinging open to reveal the stately exterior, to staff adding final touches like fresh flowers.

“The setup at our Countryside Home before the shoot, which we’re so glad to finally share with you. Here’s a little glimpse into the look of this incredible house Banda designed, from the joinery details to the richly textured fabrics. An ode to greatness and space. We look forward to sharing more soon!,” the caption read.

He was asked about a potential appearance during an interview on Alan Titchmarsh’s show, Love Your Weekend.

He said: “My two children are embarrassed enough about my dad dancing at parties. The idea of me getting into sequins and sort of running like that… no! So it’s not true, and would never happen. Great show, obviously, but not for me.”

Princess Kate’s secret re-wear

We can’t resist a leaf through the archives when it comes to the Princess of Wales’ fashion!

Everyone forgets Kate wore this dress twice

In 2018, she surprised royal watchers by re-wearing a distinctive teal Jenny Packham dress that hadn’t been seen since 2012. Worn to the Tusk Conservation Awards, the gown featured a low V-neckline, lace cap sleeves, and a full chiffon skirt. Unusually for Kate, the design also included a sheer back.

In 2012, she wore her hair in an elegant low updo to fully showcase the gown’s sheer back, completing the look with a dramatic smoky eye.

Zara Tindall’s Cinderella dress

Zara Tindall clearly has a signature shade: pastel blue. Following her recent appearance in a blue Rebecca Vallance dress, we were inspired to revisit some of her best light blue formal looks.

Our top throwback is the dazzling Paolo Sebastian gown she wore to a formal event with her husband, Mike, in 2022. The dress was so stunning, she just looked like Cinderella from the classic Disney film.

The ethereal gown featured a sparkling, luminous overlay with an off-the-shoulder silhouette. We love the detailing, including the gathered sleeves and the flattering belted waistline.

High Court told Prince William’s 21st birthday party may have been ‘blagging’ target

A group, including Prince Harry, Sir Elton John, and Liz Hurley, have accused the Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers Limited of allegedly carrying out or commissioning unlawful activities such as hiring private investigators to place listening devices inside cars, “blagging” private records, commissioning burglary to order, and accessing private phone conversations.

High Court has heard that Prince William’s 21st birthday party may have been a ‘blagging’ target

At a preliminary hearing today, lawyers for the group and the publisher returned to the High Court in London ahead of an expected trial in January 2026. David Sherborne, for the group of high-profile individuals, said in written submissions that invoices were disclosed on 24 September, including one related to the Prince of Wales.

Mr Sherborne claimed that this invoice was linked to a Daily Mail story from June 2003, with “extensive” details about William’s 21st birthday party, which had an ‘out of Africa’ theme, the day before the party was due to take place.

“It can be inferred… that information for the article was obtained through blagging,” Mr Sherborne said.

The royal chose an unforgettable look: a PatBO corsage dress in a vibrant turquoise blue. The gown’s slinky design and spaghetti straps were elevated by the dramatic, large floral motif.

Her choice of dress immediately brought to mind the Christian Siriano gown worn by Sarah Jessica Parker in the promo shots for the second season of And Just Like That in 2023. That custom-made dress, featuring a huge pink flower, also made a strong, fashionable statement, nodding to the character’s long-standing affinity for floral accessories.

Final preparations for Danish royal dinner

Over on the Danish royal Instagram, the final preparations are in motion for King Frederik and Queen Mary’s dinner for European heads of state and government leaders in connection with the European Political Community Meeting.

The dinner will take place in the Knights Hall of Christian VII’s Palace in Amalienborg, where autumn flowers in shades of pink, orange, and red with roses, dahlias, orchids and eucalyptus adorn the room.

The Queen has helped select the autumn flowers especially for the occasion – and aren’t they beautiful!

On this day…

On this day in 1985, the late Princess Diana was seen making an appearance at a gala dinner dance at the Southern Cross Hotel in Melbourne, Australia.

The princess looked magnificent in a jewel-toned blue gown and wore her iconic emerald and diamond choker as a headband.

The choker has become one of Diana’s most famous heirlooms, with the current Princess of Wales, Kate, wearing the piece in 2022 to accessorise her green Solace gown for a night at The Earthshot Prize in Boston.

The latest from Prince Albert of Monaco…

New photos have been released of the prince’s official visit to Aix-en-Provence, at the invitation of Mayor Sophie Jossains, yesterday.

The day highlighted the historical links between the Grimaldi Family and the city, especially through the figure of Cardinal Jérôme Grimaldi. Albert attended a reception ceremony, unveiled a commemorative plaque, visited the cathedral, and then went to a reception at the Arbaud Museum.

He also visited the Hotel de Caumont to view the exhibition Niki de Saint Phalle, for which he is lending a work.

“I am honoured to be here today for the official opening of the first permanent humanitarian memorial. A physical recognition of the courage and sacrifice humanitarian aid workers make to ensure the most vulnerable receive life-saving support,” the prince began.

“I hope that it can be a place both for quiet contemplation and for education. So that children now and in the future can learn about humanitarianism, and the remarkably brave men and women who endanger their lives every day to help others in their hour of greatest need.”

Created by British artist Michael Landy and the Humanitarian Memorial Committee, the artwork is a circle of 15 green human-sized figures with spaces allowing visitors to complete the circle by joining hands.

The figures carry stories from individuals who have either distributed or received humanitarian aid.
