Prince William has spoken of how he and Kate are making music a big part of their children’s upbringing. And the first in line to the throne revealed the favourite instrument of the second in line.
Proud dad William chatted happily about how Prince George loves learning to play the guitar. The Prince of Wales opened up as he visited Spiral Skills in Lambeth at their new hub at the Oasis Village in Tulse Hill.
The Prince was there to see the work the charity, which focuses on young people, is doing with Homewards, his initiative to put a end to homelessness.

Speaking to musicians taking part in a workshop, Prince William said ‘‘I make sure my children learn music because I love music and it’s crucial, really important.”
And while George has gone for the gentle sound of guitar, his younger brother, Louis, has shown a preference for something a little noisier. As William was asked if he’d like a go on his drums, he played down his talents but said that Louis, 7, was already practising on them at home.
Princess Charlotte has decided to follow her mum’s lead. The ten year old is learning to play the piano, a favourite instrument of the Princess of Wales who has played publicly more than once. Her surprise performance at her first Together at Christmas concert went viral while in 2023, Kate helped open the Eurovision Song Contest with a virtual performance alongside Ukraine’s 2022 winners.

However, William confirmed he’s the one member of the Wales family who won’t be joining in family practices. His own musical skills fell by the way side. He told people at Spiral Skills that he had never mastered reading music and so he’d found it harder to progress.
The visit also saw the heir to the throne take part in a film making workshop. He met many of the young people supported by Spiral Skills and those who help them.
The visit came a day after Kate joined William for a visit to the WI in Sunningdale to honour the memory of Queen Elizabeth II on the third anniversary of her death.

During that visit, Prince William made another home revelation – he loves brownies but never with nuts in them.
