New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and wide receiver Stefon Diggs had an explosive connection on Sunday, as the two were able to help lead the Patriots to their first win at Gillette Stadium this season.
Diggs had his best performance of the season with six catches for 101 yards receiving, averaging 16.8 yards per reception. It was an impressive showing from the four-time Pro Bowler, who served as Maye’s top receiving target throughout the game.

The high volume of targets and playmaking abilities are exactly what the Patriots had in mind when they signed Diggs in free agency.
“He looked a little faster than I thought. He looked pretty fast,” Maye said after the game. “I think he’s just getting more and more comfortable. He’s a great player with the ball in his hands. He’s a great leader on this team. He’s great with energy, being positive. I’m glad he’s a Patriot.”
Diggs recorded his 37th 100-yard receiving game and his first as a member of the Patriots.
The Patriots clearly leaned in his direction over Demario “Pop” Douglas, who saw fewer reps in Sunday’s game. Diggs is a savvy receiver with the talent to play both inside and outside at the position. The good news is that he should only get better as he grows more comfortable in the Patriots’ offense.
