Drake Maye and his new wife are paying it forward.
The New England Patriots quarterback married his middle school sweetheart, Ann Michael Hudson, on Saturday, June 21, in their North Carolina hometown — and the couple began their union with a charitable gesture, according to 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Scott Zolak.
During his radio show on Tuesday, July 8, Zolak — also a former Patriots quarterback — revealed the couple donated all their wedding gifts to local shelters in the area.

“They did a lot of donating with the local kids’ shelters and stuff for the area he grew up, and some kids didn’t have [the right] size shoes, didn’t have some Christmas stuff,” Zolak said.
He added, “They didn’t tell anybody, but they took their wedding gifts and sent them to the homeless and help centers down there. Everything that they got, they forwarded it.”
The pair wed in a scenic outdoor ceremony on a lakeside, joined by many friends and family on their big day. The couple announced their union in a joint Instagram post, offering glimpses into their picturesque wedding.
“What a night! Cheers to foreverI love you!” Maye, 22, wrote in the caption. Hudson commented on the post, “Best day ever!!!! I love you.”

According to Sports Illustrated, Maye and Hudson first started dating in middle school when they were just 12 years old. After graduating high school, they both attended the University of North Carolina, where Maye began forging his professional football career.
Maye popped the question earlier this year in January. The quarterback got on one knee on a beach at sunset, and had a flower-filled picnic waiting for her after she said yes.
Maye shared a few snaps from the heartfelt proposal in another post to Instagram, writing in the caption, “Love doing life with you. Can’t wait to marry you!”
