The Kansas City Chiefs look to redeem themselves with a much-needed win against the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football this week.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes put his team on notice ahead of the primetime matchup at Arrowhead Stadium. While the Chiefs are 2-3 after losing 31-28 to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday Night Football, the Lions are 4-1, sitting in first place in the NFC North.

“They play extremely hard. They have the mentality that they’re going to come in here and win a football game,” Mahomes told reporters. “We’ve got to match their intensity. It’s going to take our best football — offense, defense, and special teams… We’re going to find a way to get a win.”

Fans can expect to see Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, back at Arrowhead Stadium for the Week 6 matchup. Save for the season opener in Brazil, Brittany has made it to every Chiefs game this season.

Last month, she celebrated her husband making NFL history. The 30-year-old quarterback became the youngest and fastest player to record 250 passing touchdowns (116 games).

One day before the Lions-Chiefs game, however, the mother of three turned her attention toward the NWSL’s Kansas City Current. The former soccer player is a founding co-owner of the Current, along with owners Chris and Angie Long. Mahomes joined as a co-owner in January 2023.

Brittany Mahomes Sends a 2-Word Message After The KC Current Broke Multiple NWSL Records

The Mahomes’ investment in the KC Current continues to pay off as they are they are the No. 1 team in the league. During a game against NY/NJ Gotham FC on Saturday, October 11, Brittany sat near the front row as the Current made NWSL history by scoring the most points in a single season (62 points).

Following the 2-0 victory, their 17th consecutive win, the Current also became the first team to win 20 league matches in a season. And they still have two games left in the regular season. Brittany posted on her Instagram Stories, “LET’S GOOOOO @kccurrent.”

Goalkeeper Lorena Silver set a NWSL record for most shutouts in a single season (14). Current coach Vlatko Andonovski couldn’t be prouder of his team. “Lots of credit goes to the players,” Andonovski said, per The Kansas City Star. “They’re the actors, they’re the ones that get things done on the field. But there’s so much work that is done behind the scenes.

“There is a big group of staff, of people that are working day in and day out. Because they want to do everything possible for these players to be prepared.”

Earlier this season, the Current became the fastest team to clinch the NWSL Shield by percentage of games played.

Patrick & Brittany Mahomes Continue To Support the KC Current’s Exponential Growth

Four years after the KC Current played their first game of the 2021 season, they’ve become the second-most valuable franchise in the NWSL. Despite being the fourth-smallest market team, the Current owns the second-highest valuation of $275 million.

After opening CPKC Stadium, the first premier sports venue built primarily for a women’s sports team, Forbes reported that the KC Current generated a league-high $36 million in revenue in 2024.

Over the summer, the Longs announced a $52 million investment in a three-tiered expansion of the team’s facilities in Riverside, Missouri. They broke ground in July on building Riverside Stadium, a 35,000-square-foot performance center, and a pitch expansion.
