“Squad” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fueled 2028 presidential speculation Wednesday, gloating over a poll showing her edging out Vice President JD Vance in a hypothetical matchup.
Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) appeared to revel over an Argument/Verasight poll showing her leading Vance, 51%-49%, as she weighs whether to run for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) seat or the White House.
“Bloop!” the Queens and Bronx rep remarked on X.
The Empire State congresswoman has been largely tight-lipped about the 2028 race and whether she will vie for the presidency or the Senate.
Ocasio-Cortez is currently the fourth-highest polling Democrat for the 2028 race, behind former Vice President Kamala Harris, ex-Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), per the latest RealClearPolitics polling aggregate.
Vance has consistently polled as the top GOP contender in the 2028 race.

The veep got a boost Tuesday after Vanity Fair published a piece in which his top potential competitor, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, ruled out a 2028 run if Vance jumped into the race.
Over the past year, Ocasio-Cortez has seemingly used a potential run for Senate in 2028 to pressure Schumer to move to the left on key issues.
In March, she publicly tore into him for allowing Senate Republicans to wrangle through a measure to avert a government shutdown.

Her potential 2028 primary challenge against Schumer loomed large over the 43-day government shutdown in the fall, during which Democrats repeatedly filibustered a GOP-backed measure to reopen the government.
“He’s not up for election this cycle,” Ocasio-Cortez said when asked if she was contemplating a run against Schumer in 2028.
Like Ocasio-Cortez, Vance has been similarly coy about his 2028 aspirations. President Trump has also publicly flirted with a 2028 run despite the 22nd Amendment precluding him from doing so.
“We’re going to win the midterms. We’re going to do everything that we can to win the midterms,” Vance told Fox News’ “Hannity” about his 2028 plans.
“And then after that, I’m going to sit down with the president of the United States and talk to him about it.”
The Argument/Verasight poll that had Ocasio-Cortez beating Vance sampled 1,521 registered voters and had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.
