Princess Kate Middleton’s four-word question to Queen Camilla has been exposed by a lip reader, after the duo shared a private moment on the balcony during Remembrance Day

Following King Charles leading the nation in a two-minute silence to remember those who lost their lives in conflict during Sunday’s poignant Remembrance Day service, his wife Queen Camilla and the Princess of Wales appeared to struggle with concealing their emotions.

The two Royals observed the proceedings side by side from the balcony of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, which overlooks the Cenotaph.

They witnessed wreaths being placed by the King, Kate Middleton’s husband Prince William, and other royals, as well as senior politicians and Commonwealth high commissioners.

During the wreath-laying ceremony, the pair seemed to share a private moment of amusement.

A four-word remark from Kate to Camilla, decoded by a lip reader, caused the Queen to shield her face using her order of service programme.

Lip-reader Jeremy Freeman revealed to Reach PLC that the Princess of Wales, while smiling, turned towards the Queen and enquired: “Did you see it?”.

Camilla responded by glancing at Kate with a knowing smile, before swiftly hiding her mouth and expression behind the order of service as she offered a short response to the Princess.

What exactly caught their attention during the wreath-laying ceremony on the ground below remains unknown, but Kate was seen continuing to share a moment of levity with Camilla afterwards.

Following the light-hearted exchange, the Royal pair regained their composure and continued to observe the rest of the service.

Kate and Camilla, both elegantly dressed in all-black ensembles with poppies pinned, were accompanied on the balconies by the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, was spotted wiping away tears as she took in the moving ceremony.

Standing next to the recently widowed Duke of Kent, an emotional Sophie proudly watched her husband, Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, lay his wreath at the memorial.

Princess Anne was notably missing from the event and did not join her brothers, King Charles and Prince Edward, as she is currently on a tour of Australia and Singapore with her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.

Instead, the Princess Royal commemorated the occasion by attending a Remembrance Service in Sydney, where she laid a wreath at the Anzac Memorial.
