Meet Meghan Murphy — five fast facts about Dodgers ace Tyler Glasnow’s stunning and supportive fiancée. lt

In the 2023-2024 offseason, in addition to signing Shohei Ohtani as a free agent, the Los Angeles Dodgers made some other moves as well. One of the most important — a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays that brought then-eight-year veteran starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow to Chavez Ravine.

Glasnow, with his move across the country, agreed to a five-year, $136.5 million contract extension with Los Angeles. The deal represented a risk for the Dodgers, as the injury-prone Glasnow had never started more than 21 games in a season, and at the time had topped 100 innings only twice.

This season, Glasnow managed to take the mound for only 90 1/3 inning over 18 starts before adding another 13 1/3 innings in three postseason appearances.

But Glasnow may have made his biggest pitch in August of 2024, his first season with the Dodgers, when he became engaged to his girlfriend of the previous three year, Meghan Murphy.

Here’s what you need to know about Tyler Glasnow’s fiancee.

She is an ‘Aesthetic Injector’

Though she had already spent a year as a medical assistant, Murphy studied to become as certified physician’s assistant from 2018 to 2020 at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida, about 10 miles west of Fort Lauderdale.

Murphy now works as an aesthetic injector at Watt Plastic Surgery in Los Angeles, according to her Instagram page. That means, though she is not a doctor, she is licensed to perform non-invasive cosmetic medical procedures such as Botox injections.

She and Glasnow Have a Baseball-Specific Meeting Story

According to how Glasnow told the story to the Los Angeles Times, he met his future fiancee when he was with the Rays, and she attended a game.

“I saw a girl who was kind of cute, so I had our team photographer zoom in on her — this just sounds very weird — but she was wholesome, with a girl-next-door look,” Glasgow said in his recounting of their story. “So I wrote my phone number on a ball, threw it to her and told her to text me. She came to the next game, threw me a ball with her number and told me to text her.”

Glasnow insists that the incident was the first and only time he threw a woman a ball with his phone number, “and I still don’t think she believes me.”

Glasnow was not pitching in the game when he tossed the phone-number ball. In fact, he was going through a rehab routine for one of his numerous injuries.

The Couple are Planning a Private Island Wedding

In August, Glasnow told sports media personality Chris Rose that he and Murphy are planning to tie the knot in November.

But the ceremony will be private — in fact, so private that the ceremony will be held on a private island, Glasnow said — though he did not divulge the location.

Glasnow also said that his fiancee is doing most of the preparations for the wedding — as he concentrates and attempting to help pitch the Dodgers to their second straight World Series championship.

She Once Threw Out the Ceremonial First Pitch

When the Dodgers held a Bobblehead Night, giving away Glasnow-likeless bobblehead dolls, they invited Murphy to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at Chavez Ravine.

Glasnow himself did the catching, as Murphy situated herself on the mound, several feet in front of the official pitching rubber, and managed to get the ball all the way to the pitcher-turned-catcher in the air.

The Pair Share a Love of Travel

Throughout his career, Glasnow has made a point of traveling to various exotic destinations around the world each offseason, and Murphy has been his travel companion — most recently on excursions to Zimbabwe and South Africa, as well as Peru where they hiked to nearly 8,000 feet above sea level to visit the ruins of Machu Picchu, an ancient Inca religious site.

“There’s a mystical weirdness about the place that is so cool,” Glasnow said later. “And the history element of it is cool. Just seeing it was pretty insane.”
