Logan Webb finally says what every Giants fan’s been thinking about this frustrating season. lt

The San Francisco Giants fell short of expectations this season after a strong start, and Logan Webb isn’t happy about it.

After going toe-to-toe with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the early stages of the year, things quickly turned south despite the team being provided with reinforcements.

“Every year is different, but this year is probably the most frustrating,” Logan Webb told Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic. “No offense to the teams we’ve had before, but this is the most talented team that I’ve been on. There’s a lot of expectations and it sucks.”

Those expectations went to another level when the team acquired Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox in June. Devers was brought in to provide an immediate impact, but his addition alone wasn’t enough.

“Looking back at that in June, we won the first game in LA to go up,” Webb told Baggarly. “And it’s true, right? There’s so much baseball to be played. It’s a crazy sport. But we trade for a guy like Devers and … it’s kind of hard to pinpoint when things go wrong. Unfortunately, it just seems like we’ve let it stay wrong for a long time. That’s not a very good recipe for success. Unfortunately, it seems like it’s four straight years where it’s been that exact same thing.”

The Giants certainly have the pieces to be successful. In addition to Webb and Devers, the team has Gold Glove third baseman Matt Chapman as well as Willy Adames and Heliot Ramos. However, it’s clear more work needs to be done in the offseason to bolster the squad to compete with the Dodgers and the San Diego Padres. Webb is confident the front office will put all of the pieces together.

“Look, if there’s one thing about Buster Posey, I don’t think he’s OK with losing,” Webb said to Baggarly. “I don’t think he’s OK with even being .500. He wants to win. It’s not my job, but I don’t think he’s OK with this. There’s a lot of people here not OK with this.”

The Giants will look to finish this season on a positive note before the front office gets to work this winter.
