Justin Bieber is responding to his mother Pattie Mallette’s prayers for him.

On Sept. 22, Mallette, 50, posted on Instagram that she’s always “cheering” and praying for Bieber, 31. The post included a series of photos of her son and a lengthy caption about her faith.

“I declare freedom, strength, clarity, and healing over you Justin,” Mallette began. “Every chain of fear, confusion, heaviness, and pain— be broken in Jesus’ name. Holy Spirit, surround him with TRUTH, LIGHT, and PROTECTION. HEAL EVERY WOUND in his heart, mind and body, seen and unseen, restore what’s been stolen, and cover him in WHOLENESS.”

“Fill him to OVERFLOWING with Your LOVE and COMFORT,” Mallette continued. “Continue to raise him up as a voice for Your Kingdom, unshaken and on fire for You Lord. Silence every voice that doesn’t come from You, and let his life be a bold witness of Your power, love, and healing grace. Say amen if you agree.”

Weeks after Mallette’s post, Bieber replied, “Only thing I need healing from is my rolled pinky toe from playing ping pong.”

It remains unclear what Mallette was referencing when she shared the public prayer for her son.

Two days before Mallette’s post, Bieber shared how his faith helps him navigate fame in a post of his own.

“Jesus teaches that our effort is simply a response to being gifted life and forgiveness,” Bieber wrote in a Sept. 20 Instagram caption, alongside several screenshots of text focused on looking to religion to cope with ego and fame.

“Jesus becomes the prize. And growth becomes something you desire because of the grace we have received,” he continued.

Bieber has also been promoting his latest album, Swag II, which includes the songs “Story of God” and “Everything Hallelujah.” The record was released on Sept. 5 and served as the follow-up to Swag, which dropped in July.

He also wore a “Pray for Me” shirt in his latest music video for the Swag II track “Speed Demon.”

A source told PEOPLE on Sept. 17 that Bieber and his wife, Hailey Baldwin Bieber, are going strong and overcoming their “challenges,” which have strengthened their bond as a couple.

Hailey, 28, and Bieber celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary on Sept. 13. They also marked their son Jack Blues’ first birthday in August.

“They’ve had challenges like anyone else, but they always come back to the same thing: They truly believe they are soulmates,” the source said. “Becoming parents has only deepened their bond — Jack is the center of everything for them.”
