The 42-year-old The Smashing Machine actress appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, Oct. 1. When she took the stage, she revealed to Kimmel, 57, that her daughters, Hazel, 11, and Violet, 9, were backstage cheering her on.

Kimmel, who shares 11-year-old daughter Jane and 8-year-old son Billy with his second wife, Molly McNearney, and is also a father to adult children Katie, 34, and Kevin, 32, said that his two youngest were also present for the show.

“Do you think your kids realize how much more fun it is when you bring them to your work than when we went to our parents’ work?” Kimmel asked Blunt, who said that she hoped they’d “gain a sort of semblance of that one day.”

She continued, adding, “I mean, but my dad defended criminals for a living, and I used to go and watch him at work, which was pretty amazing.”

“But you didn’t get like Cheez-Its. There was no snack table, right? None of that?” the late-night host pressed. The actress, who shares her children with husband John Krasinski, then confirmed that her experience was not the same as what her daughters got when they’ve visited on set.

“I don’t know if they’re meant to be impressed,” she said, sharing a funny anecdote about her kids. “I mean, I did a photoshoot the other day, and it was for the cover of a magazine. I was pretty stoked about it. And I’d spent the whole day with various people going, ‘Oh my god. So fierce. You look so good. You just look so gorgeous, Emily.’ ”

She continued, adding, “And so I was like, ‘Okay.’ You know? And I walked into my apartment still with my photoshoot makeup on, and my oldest daughter, Hazel, went, ‘Ew.’ And my little one, Violet, was like, ‘I think you look nice, mama.’ So I, you know, I’ve turned one of them.”

Kimmel jokingly replied that parents “always get one nice one,” but added that his kids are “not impressed by anything … And they shouldn’t be, obviously.”

“I think it’s healthy, right?” Blunt asked with Kimmel reluctantly agreeing, before admitting, “I find it a little bit annoying sometimes.”

He also asked Blunt if her daughters’ friends were ever starstruck, and the actress explained that was rarely the case. In fact, she said their parents were often more interested than the children.

“I mean, sometimes the parents try to sort of recruit them, and they’re like, ‘That’s Mary Poppins.’ And I’m there in my sweatpants, and the kids are like, ‘It’s not. It’s really not. Or I hope it’s not,’ ” Blunt said.
