Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens has had an incredible start to his tenure in Dallas. With star wideout CeeDee Lamb missing four of the Cowboys’ first seven games of the 2025 season, Pickens emerged as the top target for quarterback Dak Prescott. Even after Lamb came back on Sunday against the Washington Commanders, Pickens continued to do well.
Through seven games this year, Pickens has 36 receptions for 607 yards and six touchdowns. These scores have tied him with Detroit Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown for the most in the NFL.
The 24-year-old was traded to the Cowboys, along with a 2027 sixth-round pick, from the Pittsburgh Steelers, for a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick in May.

Pickens is still on his rookie contract since being drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft by the Steelers. This four-year, $6.75 million deal ends after this season, as he is set to become an unrestricted free agent when the season ends.
With his performance so far this year, Pickens and his agents, David Mulugheta and Trevon Smith, of the Athletes First agency, are in for a big payday this offseason. However, there have been questions as to whether the Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones will be able to come to an agreement with the star wideout.
This speculation comes because Mulugheta represents All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons, who was traded from the Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers ahead of this season after a long contract dispute with Jones.
“Don’t pay any attention to that at all,” Jones said, according to The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “Too much was made of that. [The agent] almost had zero to do with it. I was gonna be where I was with Micah, relative to dollars and cents, I don’t care who represented him.”
After Pickens turned in another impressive performance in the Cowboys’ 44-22 victory over the Commanders on Sunday, totaling four receptions for 82 yards, it is clear that he would be a great piece to have in Dallas’ offense for years to come.
Whether Jones, Pickens and his agents will be able to get a deal done, however, is yet to be seen.
