Country music star Jelly Roll is opening up about a painful chapter in his marriage, calling an affair he had on his wife, Bunnie Xo, one of the “worst moments of my adulthood.”
During a recent appearance on the “Human School” podcast, the Grammy-nominated artist, 40, admitted to cheating on his wife in 2018 — an event that led to a brief separation.
“I don’t talk about this publicly at all, but one of the worst moments of my adulthood was when I had an affair on my wife,” he said.
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, explained that he was influenced by the people around him at the time.
“I was hanging around a bunch of people that were cheating on their wives,” he said. “When I was doing cocaine, I was hanging around a bunch of people that were doing cocaine. When I was drinking a lot, I was hanging around a lot of people that were drinking a lot.”
The singer said he’s now sober from hard drugs and has since changed his outlook on life and relationships.
“I wanted to be friends with people I wanted to be like,” he added.
Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo met in 2015 and married a year later, according to Page Six. After their separation in 2018, they reunited later that year and renewed their vows in 2023.
“The repair has been special. And we’re stronger than we could have ever been,” he said.

Bunnie Xo, 45, who hosts the Dumb Blond podcast, reflected on their past struggles in a February 2023 TikTok post. “Who knew that us breaking up in 2018, me moving back to Vegas & you coming to get me back – would have put us on this wild journey called life,” she wrote.
Jelly Roll has two children from previous relationships.
