Singer Jelly Roll has lost over 200 pounds during his journey to overhaul his health. He opened up about it during a previous podcast of his wife’s show, and clips of what he said were recently reshared on social media.
Fans had a lot to say about the podcast clip that was originally recorded nearly a year ago.
Jelly Roll talked with his wife, Bunnie XO, about his weight loss during the December 16, 2024, episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast. The singer, whose real name is Jason DeFord, said he lost all of his weight naturally.
At the time they recorded, he admitted he “felt like a bum,” because he had only worked out four times in the three weeks he had been home. “I worked out five times a week on tour,” he explained.
In emphasizing that he lost his weight naturally, he noted, “Listen, we’re not against Ozempic or any of that stuff.”
Jelly Roll admitted that he was afraid to try those medications. He noted he had dealt with significant stomach issues throughout the prior year, and he knew that acid reflux was a common side effect for those taking medications like Ozempic.
“Dude, I’m just, as a singer, few things scare me more than acid reflux,” he revealed. He added, “‘Cause that stuff will just trip the vocal cords.”
Due to his fear of those types of issues, “I was petrified…I just could not afford any acid reflux.”
Jelly Roll noted that while he has lost his weight naturally, “It wasn’t out of stubbornness or trying to prove a point…For me, I was just terrified of the side effects of it.”
A video clip featuring that portion of the podcast was shared on the show’s Instagram page on October 29. Fans flooded the comment section of the post with supportive notes.
One fan wrote, “Proud of you both! I adore you and respect you and what you’ve accomplished and how you give back!”
Another noted, “Mad respect for both of you! Strongest humans and best couple ever, love yall!”

“You got this, brother! I’m down two hundred pounds in two years. Your music got me through a lot of workouts and my sobriety, almost six years,” someone else shared.
That commenter continued, “I honestly probably wouldn’t have been able to do it without you and your music. When I had nobody, I had your music.”
The same video clip was shared on the podcast’s TikTok page, and fans were similarly supportive there.
“Jelly Roll your journey is amazing and Bunnie’s support shows the power of love and partnership,” a fan praised.
“I [give] you all the props for doing it all by yourself without drugs…Hooray for hard work! And love,” someone else added.
