The claims originated with an account that notoriously spreads “satirical” news.
In May 2025, Jeep announced it would stop advertising with Bruce Springsteen after the musician criticized U.S. President Donald Trump on stage.
A rumor that carmaker Jeep stopped advertising with musician Bruce Springsteen circulated online following his public criticism of U.S. President Donald Trump in mid-May 2025. The Facebook page America’s Last Line of Defense posted the rumor on May 17, 2025:

He’s not “The Boss” anymore. He’s a washed-up leftist who doesn’t know when to keep quiet and play guitar.
Jeep is parting ways with Bruce Springsteen after his controversial comments on stage in Europe. “Thee Jeep name stands for American unity, not divisiveness. It’s time for Bruce to move on.” Losingg the contract will cost Springsteen $12 million a year.
The post included a photograph of Springsteen driving what appeared to be a Jeep with a camera pointed at him. The post had 54,000 reactions and nearly 12,000 comments as of this writing.
Variations of the rumor spread on Facebook and X, and some readers searched Snopes and emailed us to confirm the veracity of the claim.
Some social media users seemed to interpret the rumor as a factual recounting of real-life events. However, the claim that Jeep ceased advertising with Springsteen was fictional and was posted by an account that calls its content satirical.
It is true that Springsteen once appeared in a Jeep commercial. In 2021, the two-minute ad was broadcast during the Super Bowl:
It is also true that Springsteen criticized Trump on stage. During a show in Manchester, England, on May 14, 2025, he called the Trump administration “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous”:
The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock ‘n’ roll in dangerous times.
In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.
Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring!
In response, Trump posted on Truth Social (archived), calling Springsteen a “pushy, obnoxious jerk” and a “dried out ‘prune.'”

Undeterred, Springsteen repeated his criticism of the president almost word for word during his May 17, 2025, show, adding:
In my home, they’re persecuting people for their right to free speech and voicing their dissent. That’s happening now. In America, the richest men are taking satisfaction in abandoning the world’s poorest children to sickness and death. That’s happening now. In my country, they’re taking sadistic pleasure in the pain they inflict on loyal American workers.
Again, he drew the ire of the president, who posted on Truth Social (archived) threatening to have the musician investigated, along with other celebrities such as singer Beyoncé, television personality Oprah Winfrey and singer Bono, leader of the Irish band U2, for their support of former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential campaign:

However, the rumor about the end of the commercial collaboration between Springsteen and the carmaker originated with America’s Last Line of Defense — a social media account that describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature. Its bio states:
The flagship of the ALLOD network of trollery and propaganda for cash.
Nothing on this page is real.
America’s Last Line of Defense has a history of making up stories for shares and comments.
Snopes has addressed similar satirical claims from America’s Last Line of Defense in the past, including the assertion that the Venezuelan government had given former President Barack Obama $22.9 million for an apartment above his presidential library and a rumor that U.S. Border Patrol agents had found relief packages taken from the Federal Emergency Management Agency rerouted from natural disaster areas to feed migrants at the southern border on the orders of former President Joe Biden.
For background, here is why we alert readers to rumors created by sources that call their output humorous or satirical.
