Democratic Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas told CNN‘s Kasie Hunt Tuesday that the average liberal couldn’t hit a target from 200 yards as she responded to questions about political violence after the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
According to officials, alleged killer Tyler Robinson shot Kirk from 200 yards away while positioned on a roof top at Utah Valley University. Kirk was shot while taking a question about mass shootings, gun violence and transgender people.
Crockett has asserted that Republicans, including President Donald Trump‘s administration, are soundly responsible for U.S. “gun culture” and inflammatory political rhetoric.
The Democrat told CNN’s Hunt, “But when we look at it, please tell me who is fostering this gun culture, right? I mean, the reality is that the average person on the left probably couldn’t make a shot from 200 yards because they haven’t been playing with assault rifles since they were a little kid. Like, that is just the reality of how people on the left typically work.”
Meanwhile, last week, Crockett defended her right to refer to President Trump as “wannabe Hitler” in the wake of the Kirk shooting.
In response, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson told Newsweek via email on Tuesday night, “Jasmine Crockett is the queen of divisive rhetoric and it’s despicable that she would try and point fingers at President Trump for the assassination of his dear friend, Charlie Kirk.”

Robinson is “believed to have targeted Charlie Kirk based on Charlie Kirk’s political expression and did so knowing children were present and would witness the homicide,” Utah County Prosecutor Jeff Gray said Tuesday.
Gray said Tuesday that Robinson texted his partner about Kirk, writing, “I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out.” Investigators also found a note under Robinson’s keyboard that read, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I’m going to take it.”
There has been a hunt for retribution in the aftermath of Kirk’s killing, with conservatives highlighting individuals who have celebrated his death and alerting their employers. Others have surfaced examples of individuals making threats of political violence.
