Is A.J. Brown Unhappy? Cryptic Tweet Follows Quiet Performance as Eagles Remain Undefeated.TL

The Philadelphia Eagles are 4-0. But not everybody in the Eagles locker room seemed happy after Sunday’s 31-25 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A.J. Brown wasn’t very involved in the game. And he vented what appeared to be frustration with his role in its immediate aftermath.

With the dust still settling on Philadelphia’s win, Brown sent this message on social media, quoting the Bible:

“If you’re not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don’t make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way.”

Brown didn’t expound on his post. But he didn’t really have to. The message was clear: Brown, apparently, feels “not welcomed,” possibly, in Philadelphia’s offense.

On a day when the Eagles scored 31 points, Brown caught a grand total of two passes for seven yards. It continued an Eagles trend of low-volume passing on a day where quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for 130 yards.

It marked the third game this season in which Brown, a three-time Pro Bowler and Philadelphia’s No. 1 receiver, tallied fewer than 30 yards in a game. It’s the second time he’s failed to reach double-digit yardage.

Brown tallied six catches for 109 yards and a touchdown in last week’s 33-26 win over the Rams. In other games this season, he’s gone one catch for eight yards, five for 27 and now two for seven.

This isn’t the first time Brown’s demonstrated behavior that could be construed as passive-aggressive. He made waves last season while reading a book on the sideline during games. He did it during a playoff game against the Packers in which he caught one pass for 10 yards.

The Eagles won that wild-card game and went on to win the Super Bowl. Brown brushed off his in-game reading as part of his normal routine to work on his mental game on game days.

But here he is again delivering a cryptic message amid a lack of volume in Philadelphia’s offense. He’s doing so — again — while the Eagles are winning.
