Jason Myers finished Thursday Night Football as the hero for Seattle, converting a 52-yard field goal in the closing seconds to give his team a narrow three-point win.
Myers missed a 53-yard FG midway through the fourth quarter that would have essentially put the game out of reach, opening the door for the Cardinals to roar back and tie it with Kyler Murray’s second TD pass of the night.
Shockingly, Arizona kicker Chad Ryland fell short of the landing area on the kickoff to give Seattle the ball on the 40-yard line. Sam Darnold connected with Jaxon Smith-Njigba on a 22-yard pitch and catch that put the Seahawks in FG range at Arizona’s 38-yard line.
From there, Myers nailed the 52-yarder to send the Seahawks back to the Pacific Northwest with a victory.
Marvin Harrison Jr. played better in the second half, finishing with six catches for 66 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown reception over Seattle’s best DB, Devon Witherspoon.
A relieved Harrison bowed his head and stayed on one knee until teammates Trey McBride and Michael Wilson came over to congratulate him. The score cut Seattle’s lead to 20-13 with just under six minutes left in the game.
Arizona tied the game after Myers’ missed field goal on a 12-play, 57-yard drive capped by a short touchdown pass to running back Emari Demercado.
Murray, who was sacked six times, posted a 73.2 passer rating after completing 27-of-41 passes for 200 yards, two touchdown passes and two interceptions. He also rushed five times for a team-high 41 yards.
Darnold finished 18-of-26 (69.2%) for 242 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions for a 111.4 passer rating. Kenneth Walker rushed for 81 yards on 19 carries. Smith-Njigba finished with four receptions for 79 yards.
