Jonquel Orthea Jones is a basketball player who plays for the New York Liberty in the WNBA. She was born on 5th January 1994 in Freeport, Bahamas. Jones started her basketball life at Riverdale Baptist School then shifted to The Clemson Tigers women’s basketball team for college basketball. After a year she transferred to The George Washington Revolutionaries women’s basketball team for a better basketball future. Due to her college success, she was awarded The Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in 2015.

In 2016 Jones was selected sixth overall by the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA draft. In her rookie season, she averaged 6.8 PPG, 3.7 RPG and 1.1 BPG. In the following year, she was selected for the All-Star game which marked her presence in the league. After that Jones became WNBA MVP in 2021 and has been a 5-time WNBA All-Star and 4-time All-WNBA. In 2019 she got citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina which gave her permission to play for the national team. In the 2024 WNBA season, Jones has averaged 14.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game.
