West Texas is a place George Strait’s fans will dearly love to be next spring.
The country music superstar announced this morning that he’ll play a concert April 25 at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, the home of the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He’ll be joined by fellow Texas country singers Miranda Lambert and Hudson Westbrook.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Nov. 21 at georgestrait.com.
Aside from a small benefit concert in July, which raised more than $6 million for Hill Country flood relief, and a military gala, Strait’s last big Texas concert was at Kyle Field in College Station in June 2024.
That concert drew 110,905 fans, which broke a longstanding record for ticketed attendance at a single concert in the United States. (The record fell a little more than a year later to singer-songwriter Zach Bryan). The Lubbock stadium has a capacity of about 60,000 for football games.
San Antonio fans who want to hear the King of Country Music should be making travel plans, because he’s only been playing a handful of big concerts a year. He announced a show at Clemson Stadium in South Carolina last month.
The Lubbock concert will feature songs from Strait’s new album, “Cowboys and Dreamers,” as well as many of his long list of hits, which include “All My Ex’s Live in Texas,” “The Fireman,” “Ocean Front Property,” “The Chair” and “Check Yes or No.”
Grammy- and ACM Award-winner Lambert released her latest album, “Postcards From Texas,” last year. She also will be playing the San Antonio Rodeo in 2026.
Westbrook, a 21-year-old singer from the cowboy capital Stephenville, released his full-length debut album “Texas Forever” earlier this year. He also will be playing the San Antonio Rodeo in February.
