The Seattle Seahawks are adding Myles Gaskin.

The Seattle Seahawks are adding some insurance at running back ahead of the team’s Week 5 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Washington Huskies fans will recognize the Seahawks‘ latest signing.

“The Seahawks are adding former Washington standout Myles Gaskin to the team’s practice squad, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Seahawks are signing veteran running back Myles Gaskin to their practice squad,” Schefter detailed in an October 1, 2025, message on X.

The move comes despite Zach Charbonnet returning to the field and shining against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4. Seattle now finally has both Charbonnet and Ken Walker healthy, but Gaskin gives the Seahawks a bit more depth at the position moving forward.

New Seahawks RB Myles Gaskin Posted 4 Straight Seasons Topping 1,200 Rushing Yards With Washington

Gaskin shined as one of the top running backs in college football as a Huskies star. Yet, Gaskin has struggled to find the same success in the NFL.

Gaskin had four straight seasons topping 1,200 rushing yards and double-digit touchdowns at Washington. The running back’s best statistical season with the Huskies came in 2017 when Gaskin posted 222 carries for 1,380 and 21 touchdowns. Gaskin also added 232 receiving yards and three TDs through the air.

Myles Gaskin Started 17 Games During His NFL Career

Despite an impressive collegiate resume, Gaskin was in danger of going undrafted before the Miami Dolphins selected the running back in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL draft. Gaskin started 17 games during his first four seasons with the Dolphins.

The running back’s most impactful NFL season was in 2021 when Gaskin posted 612 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Gaskin added 234 yards and four touchdowns while playing in all 17 games.

Most recently, Gaskin had a short stint with the Baltimore Ravens during the preseason. The Ravens released Gaskin in August as the team finalized their 53-man roster.

Prior to the Seahawks, Myles Gaskin Also Had Stints With the Dolphins, Rams, Vikings, Ravens & Jaguars

Since his time with the Dolphins ended in 2022, Gaskin has had additional stints with the Minnesota Vikings, Los Angeles Rams and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Gaskin’s NFL draft stock was not helped by his slight size of 5-foot-9, 205 pounds. The playmaker also posted a slower 40 time of 4.58-seconds compared to other running backs who are traditionally drafted earlier.

Seahawks HC Mike Macdonald Wants to See More From the Team’s Rushing Attack

Walker and Charbonnet have both flashed at times this season, but each running back has battled injuries at different points. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald would like to see more consistency from the run game.

“There’s opportunities for us as a football team to capitalize on, and that’s how we’re executing in those moments, how we’re calling it, and our philosophy,” Macdonald noted, per Sports Illustrated.

“I don’t have the answers to that right now, but I know we’ll be looking at that and our run game. ‘Where’s our run game? What are we doing well? How can we improve?’”

The Seahawks are a 3.5-point favorite versus the Buccaneers in the NFL odds, per DraftKings.
