Philadelphia Eagles fans must wait with bated breath to find out third-year defensive tackle Jalen Carter’s status for their Week 6 “Thursday Night Football” matchup against the New York Giants.
Carter, the No. 9 overall pick of the 2023 NFL draft, has only missed one game due to injury in his career — Week 6 of his rookie season against the New York Jets. However, his availability against the Giants is in question following the second practice report of the week.
The most notable part about it for Carter is that he was on it.
Carter started and even saw a season-high snap count against the Denver Broncos in Week 5, but now the Eagles hope he is available when they take the field in Week 6.

Carter, 23, has logged 10 total tackles and six quarterback hits through four games this season. He was active for the Eagles’ regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys, but he was ejected right after the opening kickoff.
His listing on Wednesday’s injury report drew attention.
“Jalen Carter added to the report with a heel injury,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport posted on X, quoting the Eagles’ announcement.
“The Eagles made a significant addition to their injury report on Wednesday,” Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio wrote on Wednesday. “Carter dealt with a shoulder injury this summer, but has been active for all five of the team’s games.”
The Eagles still have big-bodied Jordan Davis to clog up the middle, and they turned to 2023 seventh-round draft pick (No. 249 overall) Moro Ojoro in the opener against the Cowboys after Carter’s ejection.

Still, the Eagles will undoubtedly miss Carter’s disruptiveness in the middle of their typically stout defensive front, that is, if the 2024 Pro Bowler is indeed forced to miss the game against the Giants in Week 6.
Philly did get some encouraging injury news with word that linebacker Nakobe Dean is trending toward making his 2025 debut.
