The New England Patriots are one of the hottest teams in the NFL currently, as they are riding a three-game win streak that has propelled them to the top of the AFC East. Two guys who have played major roles in the team’s sudden success on the field are quarterback Drake Maye and wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
Over the offseason, the Patriots handed Diggs a three-year, $69 million contract in free agency to come in and be Maye’s top target in the passing game, even though he was still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in Week 8 last season.
After a bit of a slow start, Diggs has turned the corner, as he has 32 receptions for 387 yards through six games, both of which are tops among New England’s receivers. Diggs’ chemistry with Maye has been impressive, and it has been on full display over the past few games.
While Maye was solid as a rookie, nobody was expecting him to become one of the top quarterbacks in the league this quickly. Well, nobody except for Diggs, as the star pass catcher revealed that he knew Maye was on track to take a big step forward this year.
“Same guy coming in each and every day,” Diggs said of Maye on Thursday. “He grinds, cracks a couple jokes. He’s still keeping it loose, he’s not too tight … It’s surprising to everybody else, it’s not a surprise to me, and I’m super excited for him.”

Maye has thrown for 1,522 yards and 10 touchdowns, while also racking up 138 yards and another pair of scores as a rusher. Simply put, he’s been phenomenal, and if he keeps playing at this level, the sky’s the limit for the Patriots.
New England will look to push its win streak to four games in Week 7, and it should have a good chance to accomplish that, as it has a matchup with the one-win Tennessee Titans on its slate. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon.
