Derrick Henry Traded to New England — Ravens Pull Off Major Move.mh

Derrick Henry

The Baltimore Ravens have had a very unlikely start to the 2025 NFL season as they have ended up finding themselves with a 1-5 record entering their bye week.

While a lot of issues have gone into this start, whether it be having to play without Lamar Jackson due to injury, or coaching errors, the Ravens still should be able to overcome that like they have in the past due to the talent elsewhere on the team.

Yet, they haven’t been able to, and instead seem to be taking steps back as a team. While the Ravens don’t need to rebuild, they may want to look at restructuring for the future, and how they can accomplish this is by making trades at the 2025 NFL Trade Deadline.

One name that the Ravens could look to end up trading is Derrick Henry, and if so, the New England Patriots make sense.

Baltimore Ravens Trade Derrick Henry to the New England Patriots

The New England Patriots have gone on to not just turn things around, but catapult themselves into being contenders in Mike Vrabel’s first season as the head coach of the team. They sit atop the AFC East with a 4-2 record, and will look for ways to further improve the team to solidify themselves as true contenders this season.

Drake Maye has done a good job of leading the offense through the air, and showing further improvements as a passer in his second season under center, but the Patriots’ run game leaves room for improvement if they truly want to reach new heights as a team.

Rhamondre Stevenson has dealt with fumbling issues, leading to the offensive momentum stalling out at points, and TreVeyon Henderson has flashed at points but has struggled finding consistency as a rookie to truly take over the backfield. With these issues paired with Antonio Gibson suffering a season-ending injury, the Patriots need more running back help.

For Mike Vrabel, he can look at the Ravens struggling right now, and look to trade for Derrick Henry, someone he knows he can count on from his time being Henry’s coach on the Tennessee Titans.

While Derrick Henry hasn’t been quite as productive this season, he still has 439 yards and four touchdowns over 88 rushing attempts. Over his entire career, Henry has rushed for 12,859 yards and 117 touchdowns over 2,641 attempts. Henry is certainly not in the prime of his career anymore, but he can provide the boost that the Patriots need for their ground game, while also bringing his experience to mentor the younger players.

For the Ravens, they would be able to gain ample assets in return for Derrick Henry to better set themselves up for the future, and they have the running back depth with talent like Keaton Mitchell that can take over the starting load going forward.
