The country singer joined the ranks of music’s biggest superstar.
Dasha is making history in the country music industry. The singer, 25, has joined the Spotify Billions Club with her breakthrough hit, “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’),” becoming only the second solo female country artist to achieve the feat after Taylor Swift.
“I still can’t wrap my head around this,” she said in a statement. “‘Austin’ changed my life, and now just two years after I put it out on my own … it’s officially hit a billion streams on Spotify.”
Dasha called joining the ranks of Swift — an artist who has “inspired me from day one” — in the Spotify Billions Club a “completely surreal” experience. (In addition to several of her pop hits, Swift’s country songs ‘Love Story,’ ‘Love Story (Taylor’s Version),’ ‘You Belong With Me (Taylor’s Version),’ ‘All Too Well (10 Minute Version)’ and ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ also have more than 1 billion streams on the platform.)
“All I’ve ever wanted is to make music that helps people feel like the strongest, most badass version of themselves,” she continued. “‘Austin’ was written in pure rage, but it somehow turned into this beautiful source of community and empowerment. I’m the luckiest girl in the world. I have the best team, the best family and friends, and now a billion streams on my first breakout song … that’s the juiciest cherry on top.”
Dasha released “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’)” in November 2023. The song’s success led to a record deal as well as her 2025 ACM Awards nomination for best new female artist, her performance at the 2025 Stagecoach Festival and her own 2024 world tour, Dashville, USA.
After learning of her Spotify Billions Club milestone, Dasha reflected on her country music breakthrough.
“It kind of feels like I’m being pranked sometimes because this is my first hit song,” she told People in an interview published on Saturday, November 15. “This is my first moment, and I recognize how rare and f—ing insane this is. You don’t usually get this for your first one.”
She added: “All of a sudden, oh, my God, you have this huge song … it’s so satisfying and it’s so scary and it’s just fun. It’s crazy starting off my career with this as the first milestone. So it’s big shoes to fill, but I’m ready. I’m excited for this.”
Dasha described her quick ascent to stardom with “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’)” as “the perfect storm.”
“It’s funny because I didn’t even try to write a song that was the pop country smash of the year, but that was not my intention at all,” she said. “It was just, I felt like I finally found my sound as an artist after writing songs for over 15 years because it takes so long.”
