Milwaukee Brewers fan loses job after she said she would ‘call ICE’ on Latino Dodgers fan

Milwaukee Brewers fan attending Game 2 of the National League Championship Series seen on video telling a Latino Dodgers fan that she was going to “Call ICE” on him, has lost her job.

The woman in the video is Shannon Kobylarczyk and her employer Manpower Group, a Milwaukee-based staffing company, confirmed Oct. 15 that she is “no longer with the organization.” She also resigned from her role on the board of directors at Make-A-Wish Wisconsin, the organization confirmed Oct. 15.

Kobylarczyk didn’t respond to a request for comment from the Journal Sentinel.

The Oct. 14 video posted multiple times to social media shows a Los Angeles Dodgers fan, Ricardo Fosado, stand up to record on his cellphone to egg on a quiet crowd at American Family Field after Enrique Hernandez hit a home run in the 7th inning extending the Dodgers’ lead to 4-1.

“Real men drink beer, (expletive),” Kobylarczyk yells toward the fan, who was holding a Happy Thursday spiked refresher.

“Why is everyone so quiet?” the Dodgers fan asks.

While nudging the person in front of her, Kobylarczyk responds, “Ya know what, let’s call ICE,” or Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Fosado responds that he is a U.S. citizen and a veteran of two wars. “Call ICE, call them,” he said. “You (expletive) idiot.”

Kobylarczyk then swipes toward the fan and the camera.

Fosado told the Journal Sentinel that after the incident Kobylarczyk reported him to stadium security and he was escorted out of the building. The Los Angeles resident was on a business trip to Chicago and traveled up to Milwaukee to watch the Dodgers, he said.

Fosado said the Brewers fans also gave him grief when Jackson Chourio homered in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. “I was like the only one wearing Dodgers gear, putting it in my face that Milwaukee scored,” he said. “But as the game progressed, the atmosphere changed, it was a little more quiet.”

He said although alcohol may have played a role, he believes Kobylarczyk “made a mistake.”

“I don’t think it was like horrible or something that should get her fired. I feel bad for her,” Fosado said. “We cannot be judged on one mistake and a lot of emotions were involved. It was just hurt feelings, nobody physically hurt anybody.”

Fosado, a U.S. citizen of Mexican heritage, said he served in the U.S. Navy from 2001 to 2005. He signed up for the military after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Los Angeles would go on to win the game and extend the series lead to 2-0. Game 3 is Oct. 16 at Dodger Stadium.
