CBS faces $35 million losses and fans brace for chaos as three of the network’s biggest names are rumored to be on the chopping block

CBS may cut three of its most high-profile anchors amid fresh allegations the embattled network is losing a staggering $35million a year.

CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King could face the axe or be told to take a pay cut, while CBS Evenings co-anchors John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois ‘will almost certainly’ be removed from their posts, Puck’s Dylan Byers reported.

News of the potential shakeup comes as top brass at the network’s parent company looks to cut costs in the struggling news division.

David Ellison, CEO of the newly merged Paramount Skydance Corporation, and its president, Jeff Shell, want to trim $2billion across the company with rumors swirling about CBS facing the brunt of those cuts.

While Ellison has referred to CBS as one of Paramount’s most ‘underappreciated’ assets, Puck reported he and Shell see little value in the network.

‘He and Shell view it as a significant cost burden, and would probably offload it if they could,’ Byers wrote.

‘Ellison and Shell will embark on a plan to rightsize the business by reducing talent salaries, cutting operational costs, and, yes, laying off some staff, all in the interest of reducing that burden.’

Byers previously reported that CBS News was losing $50million each year before revising the figure to $35million.

Byers added that he was ‘reliably’ told CBS News’ advertising revenue is set to drop by $50million by the end of the year.

‘The trend lines here are moving in the wrong direction, and fast, and Hollywood economics won’t save anyone – a fact that the new Skydance team ostensibly understands,’ Byers wrote.

The Daily Mail reached out King, Dickerson and DuBois for comment.

King, 70, Dickerson, 57, and DuBois, 60, are three of the network’s most well-known news personalities.

King earns a cushy $15million each year, a source told the Daily Mail.

Her current contract runs through next May and will ‘most likely’ not be renewed, one insider said.

Another source said network leadership has ‘started to groom’ anchor Adriana Diaz as a sort of ‘heir’ to King in case her contract is not renewed.

A recent report by the New York Post said that King and executive producer Shawna Thomas have alienated viewers with ultra-progressive programming.

Earlier this month, King was called out by Donald Trump on Truth Social.

‘Gayle King’s career is over,’ Trump wrote.

‘No talent, no ratings, no strength!!!’ the president added.

Ratings for King’s last-place morning show, once a cash cow for the network, have dropped to below two million in recent months, according to Nielsen figures cited by the Post.

CBS Evening News co-anchors Dickerson and DuBois stepped in earlier this year for Norah O’Donnell.

Since the switch, the segment has seen ratings plummet, and sources told Variety that a new strategy will be implemented in an attempt to save the program.

The new concept will see one of the anchors more frequently thrust into the field to report on major, breaking events.

Plummeting Evening News ratings have driven CBS to adopt a new strategy.

Concern about network ratings and potential cuts comes just after company leaders decided to cancel the show of one of Trump’s most outspoken critics, Stephen Colbert (pictured).

Donald Trump has openly criticized Stephen Colbert and Gayle King.

The other will stay on set to oversee the broadcast solo, just as O’Donnell, Katie Couric, Dan Rather and Walter Cronkite used to.

The show has lost more than 1.2million viewers since it strayed from the format.

Concern about network ratings and potential cuts comes after the compant decided to cancel the show of one of Trump’s most outspoken critics, Stephen Colbert, saying the move was financially driven.

But some critics have speculated the move was politically motivated, as the $8 billion merger between Paramount and Skydance had to be okayed by the Trump administration.
