It’s not like the Pittsburgh Steelers have things figured out. And Aaron Rodgers isn’t setting the world on fire. Plus, matters have gotten worse with No. 2 wide receiver Calvin Austin III revealing an IR possibility because of his shoulder injury.
Austin said he’s not sure yet, according to a post on X by Brian Batko.
“Steelers WR Calvin Austin III said he’s not sure if injured reserve is a possibility for him with his shoulder injury but he’s trusting the plan from the team, taking it one day at a time as he did with his oblique in the preseason.”
On the season, Austin hasn’t exactly connected with the mercurial Rodgers. In four games, Austin totaled 10 catches for 139 yards. However, he does have a pair of touchdowns.

The setback would be hurtful for the Steelers. They’re weak at the wide receiver position after WR1 D.K. Metcalf. Ben Skowronek, Scotty Miller, and Roman Wilson won’t cause NFL defensive coordinators to lose any sleep. In fact, they will probably sleep well on Saturday night before facing that unit.
However, it’s bad news for the Steelers because head coach Mike Tomlin said Austin was coming into his own, according to SteelersNow via Yahoo.com.
“He’s grown in all areas, to be honest with you,” Tomlin said. “He’s a guy that was really limited in his rookie year due to injury. And in spite of that saw dramatic improvement between Year 1 and Year 2. He’s such a good professional, has such a good relationship with the game, it was reasonable to expect that to continue. DK gets a lot of attention, schematic attention, personnel decision. So, it created some real opportunities for Calvin, and I know he’s game and ready for that.”
The Steelers could have their hands full with the underdog Browns on Sunday. The tough Cleveland defense might give Rodgers and a thin receiving crew problems.
